London, United Kingdom Penguin Books Limited Full time

Do you have great sales experience? Do you know how to set a compelling and ambitious strategy? Are you a strong negotiator, able to influence at all levels?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Rights Manager to join the Penguin Random House Children’s team on a fixed term contract basis to cover a period of parental leave, for 12 months, starting in February 2025.

The Opportunity

If you have a pro-active and opportunistic approach to selling, a drive to achieve growth and the ability to maintain excellent relationships, then you could thrive in the highly driven PRH Children’s Rights team. We sell some of the world’s biggest brands and authors from Peter Rabbit and Bluey to New York Times’ bestselling fiction like The Swifts.

The role involves selling rights to China and Italy and being the brand lead on key areas of the PRH Children’s book list. In addition to driving growth in your markets, you will also set a rights growth strategy for the brands you lead on, working closely with editors and other key stakeholders.

This would be a perfect next step for a Rights Executive or Senior Rights Executive looking for a new challenge.

Key Responsibilities:

Negotiate and sell rights and co-edition deals skilfully and ambitiously, maximising sales growth potential through personal contact at bookfairs, author events, sales trips or year-round submissions.

Maintain sophisticated product and market knowledge to provide impactful data led feedback for rights potential in given markets for acquisition.

Develop and maintain excellent relationships with customers and literary scouts, displaying strong organisation, a growth mindset and collaborative interpersonal skills.

Set strategy and work with team to deliver growth for your brand lead areas, working with editorial, design and agents/licensors to ensure that we’re maximising the potential for each brand.

Minimum Criteria

Solid rights experience including experience selling co-editions.

A strong negotiator with excellent influencing skills at all levels and a flair for selling.

Strong pitching, presentation, sales and deal management skills.

A willing, flexible project manager with strong administrative and organisation skills and the ability to endorse and adapt to change and handle competing priorities or challenging situations under pressure whilst delivering to deadlines and to budget.
