Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is a leading teaching hospital with world-class facilities and strong links to both the University of East Anglia and Norwich Research Park, both of which are located in close proximity, making NNUH a unique location for collaborative working.

An opportunity has arisen to join our team on a fixed term or secondment basis to work within the Orthopaedic spinal team. Following investment in the regional transformation of spinal cord injury (SCI) care, NNUH has recently been appointed a regional SCI hub in the network. The NNUH hub supports the SCI pathway of care across the Norfolk and Waveney area optimizing recovery by improving timely access to services and commencing specialist rehabilitation within the acute sector.

Applicants will need to demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills in the acute care and rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries and other spinal and trauma pathology. You will be involved in developing and transforming our services and care pathways, providing clinical leadership to ensure provision of excellent patient care in collaboration with the physiotherapy operational and service leads.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for an individual caseload including prioritisation, assessment and management of patients with a range of acute and chronic conditions. Relying on expert clinical judgement and using highly analytical skills, to determine clinical diagnosis and treatment. To maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner.

To provide a leadership role clinically, educationally and professionally.

To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided to patients within and out-reaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be given opportunity to work across the Orthopaedic team including exposure to elective and traumawith excellent supervision and training opportunities, working as part of a highly specialist regional SCI service.

Job responsibilities

To make a clinical diagnosis based on presenting signs and symptoms. To formulate an individual management and/or treatment programme using clinical reasoning and a wide range of treatment skills and options. To be a clinical resource in the physiotherapy management of patients within the specialty and provide teaching and training to physiotherapy staff and other members of the MDT. To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy services provided by the team. To provide support to the team leader/senior staff in the daily operational management for the team. To undertake a delegator and supervisory role for other members of the clinical team including physiotherapists, support staff and students on placement.

Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy Registration with the Health Professions Council (UK)

Significant postgraduate experience as a Physiotherapist in a post with broad-based rotational opportunities. Candidates should have experience in all core areas, however those offering less experience, but meeting all other criteria, will be considered on their merit Postgraduate experience in areas relevant to the clinical specialty Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team
