What you’ll do

As Senior Manager in Enterprise Engineering you will be the primary contact for the Enterprise digital tribes, partnering with business leaders. You will be responsible for leading the Enterprise digital engineering organisation that delivers all digital channels for Vodafone UK. You will work to build a world class software engineering capability to drive Vodafone’s global ambition to become the Digital and Connectivity Champion, focusing on security, quality and pace of delivery whilst keeping our customers at the heart of what we do. 

You will assist in the assessment, understanding and shaping of near and long-term enterprise demand to drive technical new features.  You will collaborate with Solution Architects and Lead Engineers to shape and review HLDs/blueprints to ensure well designed solutions. You will proactively drive the technical design structure and direction of Enterprise engineering; engaging and encouraging the engineers to deliver LLDs aligned with HLD and strategic goals whilst ensuring timely delivery and qualitative solutions for the business and our customers. You will guide, invest and help grow/scale our technology teams to achieve our FY demand roadmap, team goals and drive toward a common tech vision of re-use throughout Vodafone Engineering, regardless of channel.  You will establish and advocate use of technical best practices and standards. Including Architectural patterns, TDD and use of best-in-class development tools to improve overall engineering quality. You will be the key technical contact for Enterprise engineering towards Product Owners, Business Analysts, Tech Leads, Solution Architecture team and other relevant stakeholders from the business.  You will ensure best in class customer experience, superior performance and high customer satisfaction. 

Who you are

You will have an in depth E2E understanding of engineering technologies such as React, Java, Node JS, micro services architectures, and RESTful APIs in cloud environments to deliver scalable high-performance applications.  You will have a deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle including multiple delivery methodologies with the ability to mentor, motivate and shape high performing teams.  You will have Agile methodologies knowledge and hands-on experience, as Scrum and/or Kanban.  You will have a proven track record of leading and motivating engineering teams with an in-depth understanding of the technologies processes and architecture required for delivery high quality digital applications and services at scale.  You will have knowledge of at least one of the following major languages – JavaScript (React, Node, Typescript) or Java in an application context, along with associated design best practices. You will have operational experience of large-scale cloud-hosted solutions with challenging expectations of security, availability and performance.  You will have experience working with teams across multiple locations, with strong communication skills to facilitate this cross-function way of working.
