About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school community in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting students' emotional and social well-being, helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive and nurturing environment.

As a Pastoral Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students, providing one-on-one and group support to address a range of issues including behavioural, emotional, and academic challenges. You will collaborate with teaching staff and other support professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each student's development. Your role will be integral in creating a positive and inclusive school atmosphere where every student feels valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Work with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, addressing emotional, social, and behavioural issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Liaise with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, identifying areas for further intervention.
  • Promote a safe and positive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and participation.
  • Support the delivery of PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) education and other relevant programs.
  • Assist with general classroom duties and administrative tasks as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people in a pastoral, teaching assistant, or similar role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the emotional and social development of young people.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour with patience and understanding.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Enhanced DBS check and on the update service (or willingness to undergo one).

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a school setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
