About Them:
They are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for students who have struggled in mainstream school settings. Our school offers a unique learning experience with dedicated classrooms for a range of vocational subjects, including a large workshop and salon, as well as rooms for general teaching equipped with modern facilities like whiteboards for subjects such as Maths and English.
Role Overview:
As a Pastoral Mentor, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our students. You will play a crucial role in helping them overcome barriers to learning, fostering their personal development, and guiding them on their educational journey. This is a full-time position, and we are looking for someone who can fully dedicate themselves to the role, demonstrating commitment and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent and compassionate support to students, addressing their individual needs.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create a holistic support system for each student.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behavior, attendance, and engagement in learning.
- Offer one-on-one mentoring sessions to help students build confidence, resilience, and coping skills.
- Monitor and report on students' progress, ensuring their EHCP goals are being met.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture where every student feels valued and supported.
Requirements:
- Experience working with secondary school-age children, particularly those with additional needs or who have struggled in mainstream education.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students in alternative provision settings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to respond to the diverse needs of our students.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
