Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs (SEN)? This full-time position starts ASAP and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance.

Role Overview:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be an essential part of the educational team, providing tailored support to students with special educational needs. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Individual Support: Working one-on-one with students to provide personalized assistance, helping them overcome learning barriers and achieve their full potential.
  • Group Support: Assisting small groups of SEN students within the classroom, ensuring they remain engaged and supported during lessons.
  • Classroom Assistance: Collaborating with teachers to adapt and differentiate lesson plans and resources to meet the diverse needs of SEN students.
  • Behavioral Support: Implementing strategies to manage and improve student behavior, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitoring Progress: Keeping detailed records of student progress and providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support Plans: Helping to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support plans for students, ensuring their specific needs are met.
  • Communication: Maintaining open and effective communication with students, teachers, and parents to foster a supportive and collaborative environment.
  • Professional Development: Participating in ongoing training and professional development to stay informed about best practices in SEN education.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting SEN students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in education or special educational needs.
