Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Locum Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the Child Complex Service Line at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust to work in the Fostering and Adoption Service for 2 days a week and in the Autism Assessment Pathway for 2 sessions a week.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, with experience and interest in working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families.

The post holder will offer assessment, consultation and interventions as appropriate to children and adolescents alongside working with parents and carers and professionals from the local authority and third sector. The applicant will need to be available to work with the FACKT team on Wednesday mornings, other days are flexible.

Essential

MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Desirable

Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management. MRCPsych Additional clinical qualifications.

ELIGIBILITY

Essential

Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment. CCT (or within 6 months of CCT) in psychiatry or CCT equivalent. Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment

Desirable

In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

Excellent knowledge in child and adolescent psychiatry Knowledge of working with children and families with disabilities Excellent clinical skills using bio-psychosocial perspective and wide medical knowledge Excellent oral and written communication skills in English Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty Experience in the psychiatric assessment and treatment of children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions including Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
