As our Social Media & PR Executive, you’ll be supporting our Social Media Manager and Media Manager in creating, scheduling and publishing social media and PR content. You’ll help to evolve our presence on social media by developing new channels, testing new ideas, and keeping up to date with platform developments and trends. You’ll be honing your copywriting skills and making prosperous relationships with key stakeholders, media contacts, regulators and internal teams to co-ordinate activity. This role requires a blend of creativity, organisation, communication skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of social media and public relations.

The purpose of this role is to help support our social media presence and public relations. You’ll play a supporting role in developing compelling content that tells Affinity Water’s brand story, and enhances our reputation with both customers and stakeholders. You’ll also support our water-saving Behavioural Change programmes and reputational risk management.

Principal accountabilities

This is a supporting role within our Marketing & Communications team, but crucial in helping us engage with our customers and stakeholders and to help drive behaviour change and communicate our brand story online.

It will require an understanding of social media platforms, tools, creative assets, and the different nuances between them, as well as media relations. This role will be responsible for the planning and scheduling of social media.

Reporting to the Social Media Manager (dotted line into the Media Manager), you will work closely with colleagues from around the business including Public Affairs, Internal Communications and wider Marketing & Communications teams. You will help to foster innovation, and ensure all messaging is aligned with our brand and wider business objectives.

Supporting the management of Affinity Water’s social media presence. Helping to plan and develop tactics to deliver our campaigns to meet agreed objectives, water-reduction targets, and regulatory commitments. You will support in creating captivating and engaging content, including producing images and videos, and writing social posts, blogs, articles, press releases. Support the tracking of social media and PR-related analytics and develop post-campaign reports detailing the success of partnerships, influencer campaigns, events, and other activities. Monitor and respond to customer feedback, comments, and social media posts. Carry out administrative tasks, generating purchase orders and getting the necessary approvals for expenditure. Liaise with other departments and creative partners to support the creation of a holistic and effective social media and PR strategy. Ensure proper and consistent UTM strategy is utilised for campaign attribution and measurement across multiple platforms, in partnership with analytics colleagues. Internally champion, and regularly showcase the latest social media, PR and industry trends and digital technologies. Uphold Affinity Water’s brand identity, tone of voice, messaging styles, and design guidelines across all social media to ensure content is on brand. Implement social media campaigns with a clear focus on influencing customer behaviours and increasing brand awareness. Support our internal teams with community responses, local works notifications and raising any risks. Play a supporting role in overall reputation and issues management strategy where social media and PR is relevant. Strong interest to learn and grow in areas of SEM, SEO, display, video and other digital channels. Ensure compliance across all content, creative and messaging. Occasionally travel off-site for various events or site visits, to create content or represent Social Media and PR. Support the Social Media Manager to develop a Social Media Crisis Response toolkit (so that we’re prepared and ready to help our customers) should the need arise. You’ll also be required to be part of our fast-fire reactive crisis comms team on standby out of hours, working on a rota basis. With water being a 24/7 utility, we operate an emergency service which can result in water supply incidents particularly during hot weather spells and winter freeze and thaws. Skills and experience required  Understanding of social media platforms (TikTok, Facebook, X, You Tube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest).  Demonstrable experience of targeting and segmenting different audience groups. Adding prior expertise/knowledge into the production of social assets influencers; PR and customer communications. Effective collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills.  Understanding of social media tactics, algorithms, and asset types. Excellent copywriting skills, good time management skills.
Ability to create images, videos and other social content.
Some experience of briefing, managing delivery and performance partner agencies. Good grasp of social KPIs/metrics and social media and PR monitoring tools (Cision & Sprout Social).
Understanding of SEO, web traffic metrics and using Google Analytics.
