To facilitate its expansion and development, Derby City’s Parent Carer Forum Steering Group, Derby SEND Voice, is seeking a well-organised, experienced and enthusiastic PCF Coordinator to provide effective support with administration and communication.

Derby SEND Voice is a Steering Group of committed volunteers who are parents or carers of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) aged between 0 and 25 years. The Steering Group is keen to reach out and engage with families who have children with a range of aspirations and needs, to share information, offer signposting support and ensure they have their voices heard at the very highest level within Derby City Council.

Parent Carer Forums were established across the country to help represent the voices of parents and carers of those with SEND, and to work in co-production with the Local Authority, Health and other partners to ensure future strategies and policies have families’ aspirations and needs at their heart. This new Coordinator role for Derby’s PCF is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to support Derby SEND Voice in its commitment to developing and extending this important area of work.

The PCF Coordinator will use their strong interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of this essential service for Derby families. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, have proven experience in information and budget management, and be able to communicate with purpose to a range of stakeholders across different media. Their attention to detail, capacity to remain focused in the face of competing demands and ability to effectively coordinate people, paperwork and priorities will allow them to excel in this predominantly home/remote working, term time role. The requirement to prepare for, attend and follow-up meetings is an important part of this job, as is the capacity to gather, record, interpret and represent information from a range of sources. Therefore, it is essential that the successful candidate is self-motivated, proactive and able to work autonomously, often to tight deadlines.

This role is facilitated through the Local Authority and hosted by Transition2, a specialist learning provision in Derby, so the successful candidate will be employed by Derby City Council but with a remit to solely support Derby SEND Voice’s delivery and development.
