Water Regulations Officer

About the role
We are currently recruiting a Water Regulations Officers to join our busy team based at Hanningfield, near Chelmsford. The successful candidate will provide expert advice and support to customers in line with the latest legislation. You’ll report to the Water Regulations Team Leader and will be responsible for undertaking inspections of water supply systems generally within existing industrial and commercial premises in accordance with a planned inspection programme.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for the promotion, education and enforcement of the Water Regulations relating to private water systems. Candidates will review new supply applications gathering all the necessary information to formulate a response to the applicant regarding the proposal with NWL conditions of supply. Any alterations of existing water supply systems will also require monitoring to ensure compliance.
You’ll be responsible for preparing and maintaining technical reports that are recorded using current IS systems, notifying all the relevant parties of completed documentation. You will have a good awareness of Health & Safety policies, utilising company systems ensuring a safe place to work.
This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.
About you
The successful candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to work on their own initiative and provide practical advice. You’ll possess excellent customer service skills, being able to explain and discuss water system with a level of technical competency. You will also work closely within the team to support compliance with the Water Regulations.
You must hold a full, valid driving licence as a van will be provided to you to carry out this role. A recognised plumbing, engineering, or Water Supply (Water Fitting) Regulation1999 qualification would be an advantage, but not essential.
