Job summary

This key role provides operational and strategic leadershipof our general practice services in Copeland which incorporates 3 GP practicesand the NCPC PCN team. Working closely with the GP and Nursing Leads, the PCNClinical Director, the Practice Managers and the PCN Service Manager you willbe responsible for the safe and effective running of services ensuring they aredelivered within delegated budgets and in adherence to agreed standards,policies and procedures. Along with thewider leadership team you will shape the strategic direction of the practicesand PCN and lead on the development of teams and services to maximiseopportunities to enhance patient care.

You will have experience of working in the NHS withextensive knowledge of the primary care sector including a good understanding ofthe regulatory and contractual frameworks for primary care. You will be astrong and effective leader with the ability to motivate, influence and constructivelychallenge others. Working independently, you will be able to multi task andwork under pressure to meet deadlines.

The base for the role can be agreed but will be within the Copeland area.

Main duties of the job

Workingwith clinical leads within both the practices and PCN to develop and supportthe achievement of national, locality, and corporate objectives.

ManagingPCN, Locality and practice budgets and resources whilst maintaining high levelsof patient care.

Maintainingand managing external networks and relationships with ICB, CQC and otherstakeholders.

Providing operational leadership and oversight to the practicemanagement teams and the PCN Service Manager.

Ensure compliance with legislative requirements such as CQC

Work with the senior management team to ensure a culture ofcontinuous improvement

Engage with site leads to ensure engagement of staff

Support and role model successful partnership working acrossthe alliance and wider stakeholders.

To understand, communicate and implement work in line withoperational requirements

Provide intensive support to sites as required

Cover for registered managers if necessary for short termsickness

About us

North Cumbria Primary Care Alliance (NCPC) is a clinically-led,not for profit company, where all of our GPs are employees, meaning that allfinancial risks, responsibilities and liabilities sit with our not for profitlimited company, rather than with individual partners. Our organisation is ledcollaboratively, with an efficient head office support function.

We run 6 practices across 16 sites in North Cumbria delivering services to a patient population of about 100,000 people. We are members of 3 PCNs, employ 430 staff and work collaboratively across the practices, seeking to work at scale where this is of benefit.

Have knowledge of the regulatory and contractual frameworks for primary care contracts such as LIS, DES, QOF etc

Experience

Essential

Experience of working in the NHS with extensive knowledge of the primary care sector

Desirable

Experience of developing primary care provision at scale, for example working with a federation or collaboration of general practices

Qualifications

Educated to degree level or experience as a Manager in general practice or equivalent Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
