This role is for a Behaviour Mentor at a Secondary School in Newport. You will support pupils in small groups and on a 1:1 basis with behavioral needs.

Job Summary:

  • £83.85 - £95 a day (dependant on experience and qualifications)
  • Hours: 08:30 - 15:30
  • Behaviour Mentor – Secondary School in Newport
  • Start Date: September 2024
  • Initially until August 2025 – potential for a permanent contract for the right applicant

Classroom Behaviour Mentor Role:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support KS3 and KS4 students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. The students you will be supporting have additional learning needs, including learning difficulties and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

You are expected to be a positive role model and have a firm but fair approach to setting appropriate boundaries with students.

You will work closely with the students to manage behaviour and monitor progress, with supervision and support from the ALNCo. You may also need to handle crisis situations, disclosures, and altercations.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support vocational activities and sessions focused on life skills, sports, DT, arts, construction, computing, and food tech, as well as some core academic lessons.

The Ideal Candidate:

We seek individuals confident in behaviour management skills and experienced in working/volunteering with children or adults with behavioural difficulties.

Experience in Youth Work, Psychology, and Sports coaching is also an advantage
