Newport, United Kingdom Isorropia Foundation Full time

**Roles and Responsibilities**

Your role will be to welcome and establish a relationship of trust with new members in order to facilitate their successful introduction to and engagement with Isorropia.
- Report to the Workshop room and introduce yourself to the facilitators, let them know who you are mentoring today and ask if there is any information or updates you should know about.
- Go to the reception area, wearing your name lanyard, and wait for your member. Your member has been informed, following their assessment, that you will meet them at recpetion.
- Meet and greet new member, show them the building: toilets, tea/coffee area.
- Have a good understanding of a member’s journey through Isorropia and be able to explain this to new members.
- Be able to introduce yourself to the group at the beginning of the workshop. If prompted by the facilitators, be willing to recall your own experiences of going through the Isorropia journey in order to promote trust and connection with the members. Focus any personal sharing on what you learned and the positive strategies you developed.
- A large part of this role will be your openness to recall your own feelings upon entering the service and to share your before and after reflections with the specific member you are mentoring in order to promote connection and validation of what they are experiencing.
- Be aware of the members feelings and behaviour during the workshop and identify any situation where you or they are concerned about their safety. Be able to convey any concerns to a wellbeing coach sensitively and appropriately.
- Be able to stand back and let the member experience the workshop without taking over or trying to do the work for them. Be able to identify situations where sharing of coping skills, tools and techniques is helpful and appropriate whilst ensuring the member is seen as an individual who will find certain suggestions helpful or unhelpful.
- Ensure that you avoid any ‘lone’ working with members within your role. This requires you to make sure that you are always in the company of other team members so that you have access to their guidance and support if you should experience a challenging situation with a member. Ie. you may have a private conversation with a member but other team members should be around and in the same room/area.
- Be able to acknowledge and validate the members experience without encouraging discussion around details of past distressing experiences. Be able to direct the conversation to what might help and has helped before, drawing on examples of what has worked for you where appropriate and helpful, in order that the member is encouraged to identify solutions and remain as engaged with the workshop as possible.
- Be able to work as part of the team, communicating effectively with the workshop facilitators, being aware of how the specific member you are working with might be impacting on the others in the group and vice versa.
- Be able to role model professional and responsible behaviours: Being punctual, reliable, emotionally regulated and solution-focused. Ensure you do not smoke or vape with the members.
- Following all workshops it is essential that you report back to the facilitators. This may include a brief summary of your member’s progress and any concerns/issues. This is also your opportunity to de-brief if anything has caused you concern or raised any emotions or feelings for you.
- Commit to your planned 1-1 supervision with your supervisor and team reflection sessions. Contact your supervisor if you need to discuss anything outside of these sessions that has come up during your work with Isorropia.
- Be aware of your mandatory training requirements and complete and attend relevant training opportunities throughout the year, highlighting to the senior team any personal gaps in skill/knowledge to fulfil your role.
