Compass Bloom are the Mental Health Support Team across Central and West Lancashire and we have an opportunity arise for a Supervising Practitioner.
This role is a real opportunity to help shape the services we provide with children, young people, families and educational settings and to develop your career in mental health support to children, young people and families.
Successful candidates who do not already possess the post graduate certificate in supervision will be supported in undertaking a year in part-time study at university.
Main duties of the job
Compass Bloom MHST is an early intervention mental health and emotional wellbeing service covering Central and West Lancashire. The service delivers evidenced based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health need and helps support schools with a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing.
It is part of the MHST Trailblazer Programme, which has been commissioned following the Transforming Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Care Provision: A Green Paper (2017).You will need to demonstrate in your application that you have the ability to study at degree level and have a core professional qualification relevant to mental health, for example mental health nursing, cognitive behavioural therapy, EMHP or equivalent. You should also have post graduate experience working with children and young people and an understanding of the principles and practice of CBT and clinical supervision.
Candidates will either have a Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision or ability and willingness to attain PG Cert. within the first year of employment.
You will be knowledgeable and experienced in working with CYP with mental health needs; completing mental health assessments, providing practice supervision and support as well as providing specialist care directly to children and young people and families.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to network with other agencies as central to the role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
Core professional qualification relevant to mental health nursing with specialism in mental health or learning disability nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work. Experience at a senior level (either management or clinical) Evidence of continued professional development Willingness to complete post Graduate Certificate in Supervision at University of Sheffield as required
Desirable
Supervisor training (preferably in CBT) Management training Therapeutic post graduate qualification (preferably in CBT) Post Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline Mentorship qualification
Experience
Essential
2-4 years working therapeutically with children and young people Experience of line management and/or clinical/practice leadership Experience of delivering CBT informed supervision, ideally of practice related to education settings Experience of working in a community and/or educational environment Evidence of clinical development Collaborative working Experience of effective engagement with families and carers Experience of organising team duties Experience of inducting staff members to the area with confidence Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable
Experience of leadership within Children and Young People clinical service areas Experience of providing mentorship
