Mental Health Liaison Practitioner - James Paget Hospital

Are you a skilled and experienced practitioner looking to join a passionate and dedicated team?

Our Mental Health Liaison team based at the James Paget University Hospital (JPUH) in Gorleston has a rare opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker to join their fantastic team.

This role is there to support those attending the JPUH with new or ongoing mental health difficulties and illness; to identify their needs, ensuring these are met effectively whilst in hospital and to contribute towards timely/supportive discharge planning.

Our vital service operates 24/7, 365 days of the year which means will be expected to work a shift pattern.

JPUH is located in the coastal town of Gorleston, just a stones throw from beautiful beaches and with great connections to Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Working here will give you the opportunity to work in a busy acute hospital with the added benefit of being able to enjoy the beaches, beautiful countryside and coastal towns in your spare time.

If you are motivated, compassionate, a good team player and keen to make a difference to the lives of both adults and older people experiencing mental health crisis then we want to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

We're looking for people who enjoy working in fast paced and busy environment, forging excellent working relationships with other health professionals within the hospital and beyond.

A flexible 'can do' attitude, with a willingness to build links with acute hospital colleagues is essential to ensure that a proactive interface is created between mental health and acute services.

From working alongside colleagues in the A&E department, to in-reaching to the wards, supporting substance misuse colleagues and liaising with other mental health professionals, you will work across the JPUH supporting individuals presenting to the acute hospital with mental health issues.

We're looking for individuals who want to grow and develop their knowledge and skills by working closely with colleagues, sharing experience and knowledge to continually learn from each other.

Ideally you'll have experience, particularly in areas of acute mental health and risk management and older adults' mental health.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who would like a new challenge with variety where no two days will be the same.

About us

Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.

Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey. We have strong, established nursing networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.

Why Norfolk and Suffolk? The people here are warm and welcoming, you'll never be far from the beautiful coastline or Broads National Park. We're an hour and a half away from London and have an international airport in Norwich too. Our villages, towns and cities are packed full of history, independent cafes, shops and theatres. We have excellent shopping, eating out, top ranking schooling and affordable house prices too.
