Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing, older people's and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk.
At any one time, around 23,000 people in Norfolk and Suffolk are receiving care and attention from the Trust. We believe in whole life care - seeing people in the context of their whole lives, understanding the importance of good physical health, friends, family, spirituality, culture, home, work, education and a sense of purpose and achievement to experience good mental health.
Nearly 3,800 full and part-time practitioners care for our service users in hospitals, in the community and in their own homes, whilst an additional 1,400+ staff provide non-clinical support, including cleaning, catering, delivering supplies, ward administration, information technology, human resources and financial services.
We are committed to delivering quality driven mental health services. Every individual makes a valuable contribution. We are proud of our staff who have been commended for the care they provide. Do you value working positively, respectfully and together? If so, we’d love you to join us
JOB DESCRIPTION/PERSON SPECIFICATION
YOUR APPLICATION
**Job overview**:
We are really excited to be offering motivated and experienced professionals a unique opportunity to work as a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner located within Norfolk County Council.
This role is an exciting initiative to work within an established partnership alongside Children's social Care colleagues to assess, review, triage, signpost and deliver short term interventions for adults with parental responsibilities. The aim of the role within the collaborative is to achieve the best outcomes for adults who have parental and carer responsibility, for children who are receiving support from Children’s Social Care, and ultimately positively impact the recovery outcomes for the child.
Referrals will come solely from Social Care workers. Assessments and interventions will predominantly take place in family’s homes independently and alongside social care case workers ultimately ensuring parents and carers of children receive the right mental health support at the right time to enable them to care for their children.
**Main duties of the job**:
You will work within the Parental Mental Health Service which has been developed to support children and families who have an allocated Family Practitioner or Family Assessment and Safeguarding Team Social Worker. The service is designed to work with families who need specialist or intensive intervention and support to prevent them from escalating from Family Support to Child Protection or becoming Looked After, and to help children return to their family networks where it is safe to do so.
The successful post holder will be responsible for actively participating as a key member of the clinical team for providing quality services for an identified client group under the supervision of a registered professional.
Having undertaken a Foundation Degree level qualification, you will maintain, develop and evidence clinical knowledge, skills and competencies at all opportunities and through the competency framework
You will be expected to deliver care and services within the strategic objectives of the organisation and promote the principles of Recovery. These principles will recognise the need to promote safe practice; value the beliefs and aims of service users and carers; work in partnership and offer meaningful choice; and value social inclusion.

Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.
