Are you an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with a desire to work in a fast paced surgical department, covering a wide variety of surgical specialties?
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team of General Surgery ACP's on our Surgical Assessment Unit and Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Unit, at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, due to open 2024. This post is directed at qualified independent ACP's; however applications will be considered from existing ACP's trainee's wishing to pursue a career as a Surgical ACP trainee, supported to complete their Advanced Clinical MSc. The post holder will demonstrate a developing the knowledge and skills of advanced assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice inclusive of colorectal, Urology and Ear, Nose and Throat specialities.
The role will be supported by a clinical mentor, and allocated SPA time to enhance academic learning and clinical supervision time as required. The post holder will be a 1st level registered nurse or registered healthcare professional holding or working towards an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. The post holder will deliver care that is under pinned by the Multi Professional Framework four pillars of clinical practice: leadership, management, education and post holder will deliver a 80% clinical component to their role and 20% non clinical.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of a Multidisciplinary Team within the Surgical Assessment Unit and Surgical Same Day Emergency Care unit (SDEC).To utilise and develop the knowledge and skills of advanced assessment,examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice inclusive of colorectal, Urology and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialities, and the broad management of multiple surgical deliver care that is under pinned by the Multi Professional Framework four pillars of clinical practice: leadership, management, education and research.
Working as an autonomous practitioner within a defined clinical area, delivering all aspects of management and care to a wide range of patients with varying needs, encompassing advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking and clinical management skills that are evidence based and deliver high quality patient centered care in accordance with theirscope of practice.
To work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team and play an integral role in the operational/strategic development of the service, promoting and facilitating evidence-based practice and clinical audit and research. To support new ways of working that emphasise a more efficient and patient focused service, ensuring the safe treatment, referral and discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations in their area.
