West Bromwich, Sandwell, United Kingdom Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust Full time

Position Overview

Are you an experienced Senior Surgical Clinical Practitioner eager to contribute to a dynamic surgical environment, engaging with a diverse range of surgical disciplines?

We are pleased to present an exceptional opportunity for a qualified professional to become part of our General Surgery team within our Surgical Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Care Unit. This role is aimed at independent practitioners; however, we welcome applications from current trainees aspiring to advance their careers as Surgical Clinical Practitioners, with support to complete their Advanced Clinical MSc.

The successful candidate will exhibit a growing proficiency in advanced assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment within a defined scope of practice, covering specialties such as colorectal, urology, and ear, nose, and throat.

The position will be bolstered by a clinical mentor, along with dedicated time for academic learning and clinical supervision as necessary. The candidate must be a first-level registered nurse or healthcare professional, holding or pursuing an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. The role will emphasize a clinical focus of 80% and a non-clinical component of 20%, grounded in the Multi-Professional Framework's four pillars of clinical practice: leadership, management, education, and research.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team in the Surgical Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Care unit.

- Utilize and enhance advanced assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment skills within a defined scope of practice, including colorectal, urology, and ENT specialties, while managing multiple surgical cases.

- Operate as an autonomous practitioner, delivering comprehensive management and care to a diverse patient population, employing advanced clinical assessment and critical thinking skills to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.

- Engage closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team, playing a vital role in the operational and strategic development of services, while promoting evidence-based practice and clinical research.

- Support innovative approaches to enhance service efficiency and patient focus, ensuring safe treatment, referral, and discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations.
