Job summary

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham has the single largest Critical Care Unit in Birmingham. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join a team of flow co-ordinators. This role is essential to the day to day running of Critical Care. You must be well organised, deal well under pressure and provide a logical approach to problem solving as well as other key characteristics detailed in the person specification.

This is a part time role for hours per week. Secondment post until April 2025.

Main duties of the job

Collaboratively communicating and working with clinical site teams, surgical, medical, nursing teams and divisional management teams to ensure patient flow both into and out of Critical Care.

* The post holder will assist in capturing patient information, monitoring information by proactively identifying and taking actions to enable patients to be prioritised, admitted / discharged as per individual management plan.

* Monitor and report on delayed transfers both into and out of Critical Care

* Communicate patient information from requests received into the Trust for referrals requiring transfer from other organisations directly into Critical Care. Ensure a clear audit record is maintained regarding patient transfers. Communicate relevant clinical information to both clinical and nursing teams regarding transfers.

* Effectively communicate with all levels of staff including senior clinicians regarding patients to be discussed. Establish effective communication networks with clinicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team, which will include using email (in house system), telephone, face to face discussions and capacity meetings.

Qualifications

Essential

* Able to demonstrate good general standard of education * Literate and Numerate * English Language and Maths GCSE's

* NVQ 3 Admin or A Level education

Experience

* Relevant experience to demonstrate understandings of the key functions of similar administrative role in health care. * Substantial previous NHS experience/or relevant background * Experience of learning to use clinical systems. * Demonstrate a good understanding of patient confidentiality * Working knowledge of Microsoft office * Working knowledge of Patient Administration Systems
