We have an exciting part time role ( hours/ available for someone looking to develop into a career as a clinical specialist. Work within the Cardiac Implantable Device service is a unique role within cardiology that crosses over into multiple disciplines, including: arrhythmia management, heart failure, inherited cardiac conditions, transplant and congenital heart disease to name a few. The post holder will be expected to undertake advanced training including: health assessors and British Heart Rhythm Certification. This continuous professional development is fully supported and actively encouraged.

This role epitomises multi-disciplinary team working; the post holder will work closely with the Cardiac Physiology team to deliver a high quality patient service. There will also be close working relationships with Consultants from various specialities as well as other clinical nurse specialists. The post holder will be a critical contributor alongside these stakeholders, to strategically develop and improve the service, with a big focus on delivering high quality patient care especially as the service expands with digital care and the utilisation of remote monitoring.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone, who is highly motivated and keen to learn and develop. They must possess good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The role involves significant multi-disciplinary working alongside the cardiac physiology team, consultant cardiologists and other nurse specialists. The service encompasses patients from a range of cardiology specialities with often clinically complex and emotionally challenging backgrounds; the post holder must have an empathetic and reassuring manner to aid communication.

This is a developmental role with on the job training and education provided to develop clinical specialist skills, including the completion of where relevant: health assessor's course and British Heart Rhythm Certification. Alongside and on completion of this training the post holder will provide advanced clinical care for patients with implantable cardiac devices including: implantable loop recorders, pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation devices. This will include pre and post procedure support and counselling, patient advice and guidance and the clinical management of a range of cardiac conditions. The post holder will lead and facilitate the development/optimisation of the implantation admission pathway; nurse led pre-admission counselling and the optimisation of remote based patient care including the expansion of heart failure alert monitoring

Qualifications

Essential

* Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration * Evidence of post registration CPD / post registration qualification in Cardiology or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6 * Evidence of clinical examination/health assessor's course. * Eligible to apply for non-medical prescribers course

Experience

Essential

* Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC * Significant post registration experience, with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for Cardiac Implantable Devices and advanced cardiology practice * Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence * Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality * Experience and enthusiasm for teaching/assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting * Experience of working in a multidisciplinary and cross agency work environment * Demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice-based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the NMC * Experience working directly with patients undergoing implantation and follow up of cardiac implantable devices * Experience of dealing with patients experiencing complex psychosocial issues relating to implantation of cardiac implantable devices. * Specialist understanding of the different types of cardiac implantable devices, their indications, contraindications and potential for lifestyle changes or complications * Evidence of significant CPD relating to cardiac implantable devices, heart failure and electrophysiology.
