Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to deliver expert care for individuals diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role within the nuclear medicine department, overseeing the care of patients undergoing a specialized radiation therapy known as peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT).

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Coordinate and facilitate the comprehensive PRRT pathway in collaboration with the nuclear medicine team.
  • Support and enhance the delivery of care through active participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate treatment.
  • Oversee the completion of Patient Experience Surveys and Quality of Life Questionnaires.
  • Assist patients in general NET clinics, manage NET investigations, and conduct nurse-led clinics, including the administration of somatostatin analogues and support for additional therapies.

Essential Skills

Strong communication abilities are crucial for effective collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and for providing seamless care across primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare settings. The nurse will serve as a key contact for patients, ensuring they have access to ongoing support.

Service Delivery

The role involves delivering a high-quality service from the initial referral through to assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and continued care. The post holder will utilize professional judgment to advocate for patients, empowering them and their families to make informed choices regarding their care.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Evidence of post-registration continuing professional development (CPD) and qualifications relevant to the specialty.
  • Significant post-registration experience demonstrating enthusiasm and knowledge in the area of specialist practice.
  • Experience in teaching, assessing, and supervising others in a clinical environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and cross-agency setting.

Desirable:

  • Experience in service development initiatives.
