Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity is available for a full-time Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist with expertise in Biologics to oversee the Biologics Clinical Nurse Specialist team. This role is diverse and includes providing guidance to patients during their initiation of Biologic therapies, as well as offering continuous support for individuals with chronic inflammatory skin disorders. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the team, conducting patient assessments, developing treatment strategies, monitoring progress, and facilitating regular evaluations.

The Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist will primarily operate within the Dermatology department, with a strong emphasis on collaborative work within multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

The role entails managing service delivery, ensuring timely patient consultations throughout their care journey. This includes communication with family members and various healthcare providers.

The position is dynamic, challenging, yet rewarding. Candidates should possess experience in managing patients receiving Biologics treatments and demonstrate the ability to work autonomously while leading the Biologics team to ensure their support and proficiency.

Specific duties include:

  • Leading and engaging in nurse-led and multidisciplinary clinics, patient evaluations, prescription management, and funding oversight.
  • Administering biologic therapies as needed and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, which may occur in person, virtually, or via telephone, adhering to established protocols and clinical guidelines.
  • Providing a prominent clinical presence, mentoring junior team members and the broader multidisciplinary team, while showcasing expert knowledge and high standards of clinical practice.
  • Delivering a seamless, high-quality service for patients from referral through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, while referring to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Acting as a primary contact and support for patients throughout their treatment, follow-up, and discharge processes.
  • Working independently, managing personal workload and practice, while collaborating with junior team members and fostering supportive networks.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Registered Adult/Child Nurse on the NMC Register.
  • Evidence of post-registration continuing professional development and qualifications in relevant specialties.
  • Completion of a recognized mentorship course.
  • Significant post-registration experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Band 6 or above.
  • Extensive experience working autonomously at a specialist level.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge and ongoing professional development relevant to the specialty.
  • Experience in developing educational programs and supervising others in a clinical environment.
  • Ability to advocate for patients and service users.
  • Understanding of current NHS policies related to the specialty.
  • Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance.

Desirable:
