Working in the beautiful City of Oxford, we focus on the recovery of the patient through a multidisciplinary (MDT) approach, with expertise from doctors, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, support workers and psychological therapies staff. We also have twice weekly MDT meetings, where we discuss clinical matters within our supportive team. We strive to provide person centred evidence-based care to patients, where possible working collaboratively with their families and carers.

Main duties of the job
You’ll provide assessment and evidence-based treatment interventions to a wide range of adults within Oxford and the surrounding area, including Bicester and surrounding villages of Islip, Woodstock, and Kidlington.
As a registered mental health nurse with extensive experience of working in mental health services, you will have a good understanding of the challenges that this care group can bring.
You will need to be able to work autonomously, with a caseload of patients with whom you will engage and offer the recommended treatment and support. You will have experience of case management and be able to assess and plan treatment with service users. You will also be able to assess and manage risk, including the use of Safeguarding processes.
You will be supported by an experienced leadership team from across the professions who facilitate forums for Nursing and Occupational Therapists and hold your development as central. We offer regular supervision and you will be encouraged and supported to undertake any training relevant to your professional development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The City and North East Oxon Adult Mental Health Team's main base is at the Warneford Hospital, a stones throw from the centre of Oxford and the dreamy spires along with a satellite base in the market town of Bicester. The team is split into three sub teams; Willow, Oak, and Aspen, which are aligned to local Primary Care Network patches.
The City AMHT supports adults of working age (18-65) who experience a wide range of mental health conditions. We are committed to the person-centred recovery approach in all our clinical work and pride ourselves in offering a high-quality service reflected in our CQC rating of Good.

Person specification
Education and Training
Essential criteria
To evidence a professional qualification (degree or equivalent) and current valid professional registration. To evidence continuing professional development since qualification.
Desirable criteria
To evidence post graduate qualifications specifically relating to an appropriate aspect of care or management.
Occupational Experience
Essential criteria
To evidence appropriate experience and a high level of knowledge about working within community mental health care with working age adults. To evidence experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and an understanding of AMHTs and interdisciplinary working. To evidence of understanding and experience of risk management both clinically and operationally. To evidence a good understanding of clinical governance and your professional legal responsibilities. To evidence experience of supervising other staff.
Desirable criteria
To evidence a good knowledge of community services in the local area. To evidence awareness of National and local policy concerning mental health guidance. To evidence experience of conducting clinical audit and presenting the resulting analyse. To evidence experience of supervising students on placements.
Skills required – IT / Admin
Essential criteria
To evidence IT literacy, to include the Microsoft suite of programmes. To evidence excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

To evidence understanding and commitment to work within the Trust policies of data protection, equal opportunities, health & safety, and to meet the diverse needs of patients. To evidence the ability to travel around the local area to undertake home visits and visits to hospital and non-hospital sites, and have the capacity to carry equipment relative to your post.
Desirable criteria
Car driver with own car available to use for work.
