Who are we? Older People's Medicine (OPM) is one of the largest medicine specialities at the NNUH, caring for patients aged 70 and above. It is home to the UK's first Older People's Emergency Department (OPED). OPM also offers an "admission avoidance" service (OPAS) which allows health care professionals to refer patients to be seen by a Geriatrician within 48 hours of referral. OPM also offers dedicated clinics to patients with movement disorders, such as Parkinson's Disease.

Main duties of the job

Who we're looking for? We are looking for a caring and motivated Senior Receptionist and MDC Database Administrator to be a member of a truly collaborative and hardworking team to provide administrative support to our busy department. Key roles will include but not limited to; recording referrals, booking appointments, answering telephones and dealing with queries efficiently, prepping clinics, updating and maintaining the Movement Disorder Clinic (MDC) database, outcoming clinics, assisting clinicians with ad-hoc queries, booking of outpatient clinic appointments, maintaining a general overview of clinic capacity/bookings and assisting in the day-to-day running of the OPM reception.

The post holder will provide a high quality reception and support service within the Outpatients Department, and as such, will need to be able to communicate well with patients and their relatives, the general public and a wide range of multi-professional staff, internal and external to the Trust. In order to provide a support service to the technical staff, a versatile approach is essential and the ability to cope with a large number of different tasks simultaneously is a prerequisite of this post.

The Receptionist is responsible for ensuring the correct and timely input of patient information onto the Patient Administration System (PAS), observing the rules of 'real time data entry'.
