Baltimore Consulting are working with a London based Local Authority in their search for an experienced Facilities Management and Capital Project Professional to support them in the management of their service as the Head of Service.


Your duties for this position:

  1. Reporting into the Deputy Director of Finance & Property, you will lead and manage the strategic and internal governance for the delivery of facilities building management and capital projects across the council.
  2. As the Head of Service, you will ensure the delivery of Corporate Health & Safety, Business Continuity and Emergency Planning across the council.
  3. By ensuring strategic direction is in place, you will lead on the development and implementation of plans to monitor and review the council's corporate health and safety strategy and policies.
  4. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to lead on the council's capital programme strategy working with internal and external stakeholders, as they look to deliver various priorities across the council including corporate properties, carbon reduction, energy projects, etc.

Experience needed for this role:

  1. Specifically, my client is looking for a candidate who has the experience of improving and running a facilities management service, with a thorough understanding of working with a corporate landlord model.
  2. Experience of managing major projects and health and safety would also be ideal.
  3. The successful candidate will come from an established facilities background, having led a service at equivalent senior manager or Head of Service capacity previously.
  4. Have an ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders; including junior staff members, operating as an SME and leader in this field.
  5. Be a strong communicator with an understanding of other public sector organisations' cultures, structures, and policies.
  6. Able to provide a minimum of two years' worth of references.
