This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant ChildPsychiatrist to join a vibrant multidisciplinary team in Devon, working into anumber of pathways. The post will be based in South Devon and Torbay but involve working with theconsultant group across Devon providing strong medical leadership.
Child and Family Health Devon has established a number ofdifferent mental health pathways including Managing Mood and Emotions, ManagingEating, Urgent Care, Learning Disability and Neurodiversity. There will beopportunities for the candidate to develop and pursue their special interest, supportingmedical leadership within these pathways. There will also be opportunities forcolleagues with an interest in medical education, the service has strong linkswith two universities and medical schools.

Candidates will be joining Devon CAMHS which isa CQC rated Good service and part of a wider Integrated service withinChildren and Family Health Devon.
Main duties of the job
This is a 10PA communitypost based in South Devon and Torbay. The service has a strongmultidisciplinary ethos and successful applicants will be expected todemonstrate a commitment to working flexibly with colleagues from otherdisciplines in an integrated way.
The appointee will beexpected to provide psychiatric input to the multidisciplinary team,contributing to clinical and team management decisions and providingconsultation to others. They will contribute to leading on the establishment ofmulti-disciplinary assessment clinics, providing high quality specialist mentalhealth assessments of young people referred into the service.
There will be aparticularly strong emphasis on leadership, both clinical and in terms ofservice development working closely with the operational managers and otherclinical leads.
The successful candidate will participate inon-call duties and join the regular peer group CPD forum and will be supportedto become a clinical supervisor or pursue special interests.

Essential
Excellent communication skills. Evidence of ability to exercise leadership in a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to work collaboratively with other clinical teams.

Qualifications
Essential
Full Registration with the General Medical Council. To hold Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Desirable
MRCPsych OR equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management. Evidence of sub-speciality or other specific training, systemic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy CCT Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Teaching and Supervision
Essential
Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
Desirable
Evidence of additional teaching skills. Experience as a lecturer or supervisor. Experience in Clinical Supervision.
Management
Essential
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and managers. Awareness of NHS management and funding arrangements.

Management training / experience. Experience of involvement in service development.

Prior experience working in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team. Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings, especially the community. Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance.

Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service Clinical experience in a range of services within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Experience in other related specialities, psychotherapy, paediatrics.
