Position Overview

We are seeking a Band 6 Language and Communication Specialist to become a vital part of our Speech, Language, and Communication Pathway. This role is designed for 30 hours per week, and we welcome candidates interested in full-time, part-time, or job-sharing opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a diverse caseload of children and young people with complex Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN).
  • Utilizing evidence-based practices to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions in various settings.
  • Coordinating clinic operations and overseeing daily caseload management in collaboration with the Clinical Team Manager.
  • Participating in student training and contributing to team audits and outcome monitoring.
  • Promoting user participation and ensuring clinical effectiveness through goal-oriented, collaborative practices.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:

  • Communicating complex information clearly to clients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Building productive relationships with clients and their families, particularly in challenging situations.
  • Demonstrating empathy and effective communication skills, especially when addressing sensitive issues.
  • Writing accessible reports that reflect your knowledge of pediatric care.
  • Contributing to clinical pathways and ensuring well-coordinated care plans.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A recognized degree in Speech and Language Therapy or an equivalent qualification.
  • Health Professions Council (HCPC) registration.
  • Membership in the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Relevant experience working with children and young people in community or educational settings.
  • A solid understanding of various assessment tools and therapeutic interventions.
