Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Children's Nurse to join our Community Children's Nursing Team as a Band 6 Community Children's Nurse on a Fixed Term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative team, providing high-quality care to children with short and long-term conditions within their own homes and wider community.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide generic nursing care to children with short and long-term conditions, working autonomously and as part of a team to deliver high-quality care.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account the child's needs, preferences, and family circumstances.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care and support for children and their families.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, identify needs, and develop strategies to promote the health and wellbeing of children, including those with complex and chronic conditions.
  • Provide education and support to children, parents, and carers on various health conditions, promoting self-management and empowerment.
  • Collaborate with community teams, including health visitors, school nurses, and social workers, to ensure seamless care and support for children and families.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines that promote best practice in community children's nursing.

Person Specification
  • Registered Children's Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
  • Experience in community children's nursing, with a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by children and families in this setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care and achieving excellent outcomes.
  • Knowledge of child development, health promotion, and disease prevention, with a strong understanding of the principles of family-centered care.
  • Ability to assess and manage complex situations, think critically, and make informed decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
