We are recruiting a Business Intelligence Analyst to joinour Business Intelligence Team at NHS Gloucestershire. The ideal candidate willhelp to drive forward our vision to deliver an exceptional, insightful BusinessIntelligence service across the wider health and care system inGloucestershire. The post holder will beresponsible for contributing to the provision of a high-quality analyticsservice to support the Integrated Care System in Gloucestershire.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting time to join the team as we work todevelop new, insightful analysis to support healthcare in Gloucestershire, andas our system continues to work even more collaboratively as an Integrated CareSystem. The team have access to asubstantial data asset, so we are looking to recruit a candidate who can hasthe potential to become both technically excellent as well as an effective datastoryteller.

Person Specification

Physical Skills

Essential

Highly proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel. Advanced keyboard skills to ensure data accuracy and speed when manipulating data.

Desirable

Structured Query Language (SQL) skills. Knowledge of statistical and GIS packages.

Communication skills

Essential

Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce and present complex reports to varied audiences. Good attention to detail. Highly developed communication skills with the ability to understand end user requirements and to communicate highly technical information to a non-technical audience. Excellent personal communication skills.

Desirable

Exceptional negotiating skills with the ability to influence others.

Analytical Planning Skills

Essential

Ability to deal with frequent interruptions and an unpredictable work pattern. Frequent requirement to re- prioritise work and resources.

Management Skills

Essential

Ability to work well within a team and lead on defined projects. Periods of intense concentration required when writing reports and dealing with complex commercial and service issues. Regular requirement to work in pressurised environment and manage competing priorities with resource challenges. Requirement for flexibility and a willingness to work away from usual base and outside of normal working hours when required.

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area. Knowledge of information and analysis.

Desirable

Experience working in an information setting in the NHS. Experience of health service information systems and datasets. Experience working in a customer focused environment. Knowledge of national and local health data sets, in particular the NHS Commissioning Data Set and data definitions.

Analytical

Essential

Good numeracy skills.

Desirable

Experience of data manipulation using a range of data formats and tools including strong data visualisations. Training in statistics and/or epidemiology. Experience using programming languages for statistical computing such as R. Experience of structured query language programming (SQL). Understanding of Business Intelligence Reporting solutions such as Power BI and Tableau.
