Main duties of the job

Working Life

You'll support the work of the department by taking on administrative and secretarial tasks for example: Typing Arrange meetings and take minutes Receive and initiate calls, dealing with appropriate enquiries Speak directly to patients and provide medical information, using practice guidance. Deal with post and emails You will have contact with patients and their families as well as health care staff and other administration staff Training & development You will get the training you need to do the job. This includes an introduction to the department, how to use the IT & phone equipment and the procedures to follow. You may be offered the chance to take a medical terminology course and IT courses for the systems we use.

About us

Scott Road is a busy GP practice based in Selby Town Centre, with a list size of circa 11,500 patients.

We have an incredibly supportiveteam of 4 Partners and 4 Salaried GPs and provide a full range of servicesunder the PMS Contract. The clinical team is supported by a strong management structure with clearly defined teams for patient services, administration and estates management.

Job responsibilities

JobSummary:

The post holder will be part of the Patient Support team delivering a wide range ofadministrative duties within the practice so as to provide the higheststandard of service to colleagues and patients.

Departmentalresponsibilities will include being part of the team whose members share thefollowing:

Arecompetent users of the practices electronic clinical system, SystmOne, so asto be able to book appointments appropriately, access patient recordsefficiently and to ensure accurate maintenance of patient records Ensurethat all incoming paper based patient information is scanned into theelectronic system Ensurethat the referral management process into both primary and secondary careoperates efficiently and referrals are dealt with according to strict timescales Actiontasks set by clinicians via computer system and emails. Communicatewith patients face to face and via the telephone in a manner that upholds thereputation of the practice Processprescription requests which come into the practice in a variety of ways. Thisinvolves using the prescribing system, both manual and electronic, accuratelyand efficiently, ensuring at all times that the protocol is followed Staffthe clinical results telephone line, providing test results to patients asdirected by the practice GPs Processappointment requests from patients in person or by telephone Providesecretarial support duties including the provision of an efficient audio and copy-typingservice within the practice. This includes dealing withelectronic mail coming in from hospitals Maintainadequate stocks of medical and general stationery Plan andbook private medicals, ensuring thatclinicians receive appropriate paperwork for review including the receipt offees for such reports To work in accordance with written administrationpolicies and procedures Undertakeaccurate filing of records, fax and photocopy as requested. Other Attend regular PatientSupport team meetings To be part of the rotafor extended hours cover of the administration function Ensure familiarisationwith, and work in accordance with written policies and procedures so as toensure ongoing successful registration with the Care Quality Commission Provide cover for otheradministration staff for holiday and sickness for which overtime will be paid Participationin an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility formaintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development Takingresponsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstratingskills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.
