The ideal candidate for the role will have:

NHQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent Previous GP Practice experience At least three years post-registration experience Good Clinical knowledge Effective communication skills The commitment to continue to learn and develop. The confidence to work as part of a busy GP practice The ability to adapt to be able to convey information to patients and fellow healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties:

Clinical:

Participation in daily preparation of repeat prescriptions to ensure high quality, safe and timely repeat prescribing. Provide supervision, training and professional leadership to the practice administrative staff. To perform synchronisation of medication supplies; perform amendments to issue durations of prescriptions to match actual medication use duration; co-ordinate and lead efforts to satisfy medication monitoring requirements; liaise with the administrative team in regard to patient discharge information and clinical letters to perform medication reconciliation Respond to medication queries from patients and staff, take appropriate action

Systems

Contribute to the review and development of repeat prescribing protocols /Standard Operating Procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of repeat prescribing Provide advice to GPs, staff and patients in changes to prescribing, to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality and cost effectiveness. Participate in medication audits and Quality Improvement Projects. Plan, develop and support the introduction of new working processes to optimise the quality of prescribing. Work with PCN prescribing and medication management projects as appropriate

Scott Road Medical Centre falls under the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) and is part of the Selby Town Primary Care Network (PCN).

Selby Town PCN is a well established PCN who have worked closely together during the pandemic and latterly to run a large scale vaccination centre in Selby.

The clinical team consists of 5 GP Partners supported by 3 Salaried GP's, a Clinical Pharmacist, an ANP and a highly skilled advanced nursing team. The clinical team is supported by a strong management structure with clearly defined teams for patient services, administration and estates management.

Be another expert for our patients to talk to, providing healthcare advice and services. Answer medication-related queries Process specialist treatment letters Support patients to get the maximum benefit from their medication with minimum adverse effects. Deliver courteous and effective service to our patients

Job Description Agreement

This Job Description is flexible, and the post holder will be expected to undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and grade as may be required by the GPs/Practice and Management. This job description is subject to change from time to time in line with organisational need and the post holder’s agreement should not unreasonably be denied

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Up to date clinical knowledge of drugs and procedures and familiarity with key prescribing information resources. Knowledge of administrative procedures Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.

Desirable

Experience of working with repeat prescribing systems. Previous primary care medicines management experience. Working knowledge of GP clinical systems. Awareness of a range of Health Services provisions. Knowledge of NHS issues Previous GP Practice experience

Qualifications

Essential

BTEC or NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
