Job summary

Part Time-20 hours

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Cardiology Data Co-Ordinator based in the Cardiac Centre at Sunderland Royal Hospital. You will be responsible participating in new and existing national audits such as MINAP, CRM and BCIS, identifying, collecting and inputting a wide range of data from various sources/departments and inputting them into the appropriate cardiology databases.

Main duties of the job

You will need to have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, enthusiastic and have excellent organisational skills along with a key eye for detail. You will be computer literate and have previous knowledge of national audits such as NICOR, CRM and BCIS along with experience of Microsoft packages.

You will have an NVQ2 qualification and be educated to GCSE A-C level or equivalent, able to work as part of a team and have the ability to work under pressure and be adaptable. Knowledge of cardiology terminology and NHS computer systems is desirable as you will be inputting and collecting data from our in-house systems. You will also be required to undertake reception duties, welcoming patients into the department as well as answering the phone and dealing with queries so a positive, friendly attitude is essential. You will be based in the Cardiac Centre at Sunderland Royal Hospital working 20 hrs per week Monday to Friday. In return we offer an attractive salary and 27 days annual leave for the right person.

Towork with the Cardiology team to collect, prepare, validate and submit datafrom Hospital Information resources, relating to percutaneous coronaryintervention, pacemaker and device implants, Myocardial Ischemia and otherrelated cardiology audits

Performancemonitoring nationally and locally

To workcollaboratively with external agencies to submit data

ClinicalGovernance

Administrationduties as appropriate to workload within the department, such as sourcing ofcase notes, contacting patients and typing.

On a dailybasis identify, collect and input a wide range of data from varioussources/departments and input into the appropriate Cardiology databases

With theClinical leads, prepare reports on a monthly basis for use across the Trust,PCT and audit network.

Ensure thequality of data for presentation of Audit results and uploading to the centraldatabases, National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research

Update andmaintain the internal databases as listed

AssistClinical leads in preparation for external assessment

Recordaccurate data/information to provide robust management information and ensurequality standards are met

Participatefully in any new and existing national Audits, such as MINAP, CRM and BCIS

To ensuredata quality and processes are consistent for cross site Sunderland patientpathways.

Produceand disseminate audit reports to be sent out to individuals and Departments

Share datafrom the National audits locally and with the clinical teams

Participatein a least one network wide audit for each year

Tocollate, quality check and upload site-specific clinical information to thenational Data

Facilitatelocal audit as requested.

Participatein collation of patient survey data, participate in the smooth running of the

service and work closely with the Angiography & Diagnostic Cardiology Adminteams, cross covering when necessary

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Maths and English at level 2 or above (GCSE A C or equivalent). NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in any subject

Experience

Essential

Experience of communicating with people at all levels. Previous experience in dealing with information. Experience of clinical audits. Data base experience. Experience of downloading information for reporting purposes. Previous clerical experience.

Desirable

Proven prior experience of working in the NHS. Prior experience of NICOR database and MINAP input.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

Ability to prioritise tasks. Keyboard skills. Extensive knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Typing skills. Demonstrate excellent organisational abilities. Ability to communicate messages and instructions accurately to colleagues, both verbally and in writing. Ability to use basic email system and document clearly, using plain English. Basic understanding of health and safety requirements in a patient environment. General understanding of confidentiality requirements in a health care setting. Willing to undertake further training related to role. Basic keyboard skills

Desirable

Understanding of/willingness to learn terminology related to Cardiology. Understanding of NHS Coding.
