Job summary

This is a 30 hour post - salary will be pro rata part time.

You will work flexibly within the designated six towns across the borough of Sandwell, working and engaging within a range of communities and partners. To increase referrals into the service by development of community partnerships and to recruit and coach peer networks across various settings. Working within the heart of the communities to engage with difficult-to-reach groups, encouraging local people to volunteer to support the service. Support people to identify barriers to accessing services (language, mental or physical health, digital exclusion etc), work with the wider team to break down barriers, improve service development and delivery and easing the transition from potential client to active client.

You will be confident in the use of social media to engage with stakeholders. To include producing posts and communicating via Facebook messenger and Facebook pages.

You will be expected to engage at neighbourhood, community and place level to recruit a team of Peer Support Volunteers who will work to increase referrals into the service and build long- lasting relationships with local partners. This will involve being responsible for developing and maintaining strong, positive relationships with a wide range of communities and organisations. Support the development of the services communication strategy.

Main duties of the job

You will be a motivated, passionate, organised and proactive communicator, with experience of working in a community setting. ABL take a strengths focused asset-based approach to community delivery, looking and partner, not replicate existing delivery. The role will require dynamic working which embraces the vision and values we wish to establish for the service by supporting people to achieve healthy lives.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities will be

Recruitand coach peer facilitator networks across various settings. Engaging with localpeople, services and partners to ensure local awareness and explore partnership opportunities and co-productionactivities.

Workingclosely with operational colleagues to support and increase referrals anddevelop partnerships with all potential referrers in your locality.

Attendinglocal health forums/groups/meetings where required to represent ABL, promotethe service and maintain local partnerships.

Updatethe partnership database with all contacts including required follow up contact.

Assistwith incoming and outgoing telephone calls. Take Stop Smoking Practitionertraining to offer support to service users during your role.

Skills and Competencies Required

Experienceof strategic and hands on development and delivery of a Peer Support VolunteerTeam.

Overseeand measure the impacts of Sandwells marketing and communications strategy.

Embedreferral pathways to ensure efficiency and quality referrals into the service.

Be experienced in community engagement and partnership working in acommunity health environment.

Experience of building and maintaining community partnerships.

Positive and proactive with the ability to motivate, engageand support partnershipdelivery.

Buildstrong relationships, foster trust and co-operation among colleagues,stakeholders, community leaders, commissioners and sub-contractors.

Experience

Essential

Qualifications and experience Demonstrable experience of volunteer recruitment and management. Demonstrable experience of partnership working. Demonstratable experience facilitating network groups. Demonstratable experience of gaining and interpretating feedback from stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience of partnership working/collaborating with various organisations. Experience of stakeholder development.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Knowledge of best practice in recruitment and retention of volunteers. Excellent verbal communication skills. Demonstrable experience of excellent active listening skills. Ability to prioritise work tasks and develop effective work streams. Awareness of the barriers facing adults and young people in stopping smoking or similar. Excellent organisational/time management skills. Positive and Can Do attitude. Non-judgemental, friendly and approachable. Excellent IT skills including Microsoft office. Confident in producing social media post and engaging with stakeholder via face book messenger and groups. Excellent team player and able to work autonomously and use own initiative. Confident and outgoing yet approachable and willing to take direction.

Desirable

Knowledge of strength-based approaches to working with people. Knowledge of asset-based community development. Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, whole systems approach within healthcare. Good knowledge of working with adult or young people in a health-related project.
