You are a qualified professional with at least HND/HNC level in Building Construction and/or Surveying, possessing an extensive understanding of the building industry. Your substantial experience in residential building, surveying practices, adaptations, and general domestic building maintenance is vital. You excel in developing detailed specifications and plans using CAD programs, alongside exceptional contract administration skills. With knowledge of housing renewal legislation and experience in delivering Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and renovation grants, you manage contractors and maximize income opportunities efficiently. Excellent communication and IT skills are required, along with the ability to organize workloads independently, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines. A commitment to high customer care standards, empathy for vulnerable populations, and adherence to equality and diversity policies is essential. What the Job Involves

As a Technical Officer in the Housing Improvements division, your main responsibility is to support the delivery of a comprehensive Home Improvement Service. You will efficiently assess, design, and manage adaptations, ensuring alignment with key council investment projects and asset management goals. Your role includes providing technical guidance throughout the grant/loan process, conducting property inspections, preparing plans and specifications, and maintaining a register of preferred contractors. You will oversee contracts from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with standards and client satisfaction. Responsibilities encompass developing a contractor code of conduct, maintaining accurate records, and preparing reports for senior officers. Monitoring on-site work quality, recommending improvements, and ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations are key duties. Attendance at evening meetings and flexible working are expected. Participation in staff meetings, training, and development, along with contributing to project excellence and sustainable housing solutions, are integral. Ensuring confidentiality, compliance with data protection, and supporting health and safety initiatives are vital aspects of your role.
