Job brief

We are looking for an experienced National sales manager to play a lead role in growing the company’s sales to achieve planned growth. The role is to manage a select number of existing customer accounts but with an emphasis on generating new business and will involve building relationships, leading internal and external customer meetings, pricing, quoting and negotiating as well as mediating when issues occur. You will be expected to execute the role responsibly, independently and proactively.


Responsibilities

  • Identify existing customers where the opportunities are not being maximised
  • Identify and make contact with new customers and work at developing the opportunity into a long relationship
  • Understand the strengths and weakness’s of both us and the competition
  • Generate a network of key personnel in assigned customer accounts and establish productive and professional relationships with them
  • Negotiate and close purchase orders and agreements with key customers
  • Monitor your own performance against benchmarked performance
  • Work closely with the sales team sharing information and helping each other
  • Report back to the company board on all aspects of the role
  • Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with clients’ needs
  • Independently lead internal and external customer meetings


Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience in a senior sales or National sales manager role is essential
  • Experience selling timber based products into new house builders is preferred but not essential
  • Have a network of contacts within the new house building market is preferred but not essential
  • Have an understanding of the major players in the new house building market is preferred but not essential
  • Driving licence
  • The role is office based and to travel as needed including a small number of nights out when attending long distance meetings
  • Experience using software to prepare prices is preferred but not essential
  • Understand architectural drawings
  • An ability to understand and analyse sales performance metrics
  • Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and team management skills
  • Analytical skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • IT literate
