Job Summary:

The Sales & Marketing Director (SMD) will spearhead the sales functions, encompassing internal and external marketing, business development, and client services. You will work closely with business directors to define and execute strategic sales and marketing plans, enhance our brand, attract and retain clients, and identify new business opportunities. As the SMD, you will be responsible for client attraction, lead generation quality, and overall sales performance across our businesses.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction, operational management, and performance of sales and marketing functions
  • Define and deliver strategic sales and marketing plans to achieve business growth and client retention
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, products, and partnerships to enhance service offerings
  • Ensure all employees understand and embody the company's vision, mission, and values
  • Coach, develop, and support the sales and marketing team to drive performance and engagement
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to ensure operational success and alignment with strategic goals
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and ensure the business is always inspection-ready
  • Drive a positive, values-based culture throughout the organisation
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to ensure systems support quality, growth, and efficiency
  • Manage key relationships with marketing agencies, sales relationships, and suppliers
  • Lead the team in developing innovative, differentiated, and condition-led communications and campaigns
  • Evaluate client research, market conditions, and competitor data to enhance strategic objectives


Competencies: Essential:

  • Educated to at least MSc/MA level or equivalent in a relevant marketing field
  • Extensive experience in UK health and social care
  • Proven track record of managing and growing high-quality services
  • Strong awareness of sector trends and market changes
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior leaders and external partners
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in achieving financial targets
  • Resilient, energetic, and able to lead and manage change
  • Alignment with company values and purpose

Desirable:

  • Experience in a multi-site, contract-driven business
  • Experience of identifying new business opportunities and business growth and integration through acquisition
