We are currently headhunting for a Sales/Commercial Director for a global leading branded food business in the UK. This is a business who are notorious in their market, two of their products are ranked #1 in the UK and globally and they have one new line that is currently sat at #2 In the UK but #1 on a global scale. The business has undergone an internal transformation over the past 5 years and has continuously been growing and hitting new external milestones since. The team on this side of the business has a turnover of over 100M and they are looking to double this, the categories are already performing 20% up across the board. As it stands the Commercial Director who was in the role took a step up to a General Manager role but has been hands on with both roles for the last year, he has spent the 12 months stabilizing things internally to ensure that when this individual enters its plug and play without all the internal issues that usually come with such a senior change.
This will enable you to oversee 4 Sales controllers across the retail function, there will also be an opportunity to oversee the category team if that’s something you want. In terms of progression, it is rare that it is talked about straight away, but the General Manager will be taking a step up at some point in the future enabling you take that GM step up organically. In terms of a leadership perspective, you also can lead the SLT meeting in the future which includes the FD, Marketing Director, HR Team, Category team and senior sales leaders.

Key Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Sales team, develop a strategic business plan that includes sales targets, profit goals, and identifies areas for growth. Actively participate in pricing strategies.
- Remove obstacles for the external sales team to help them achieve their objectives. Foster strong relationships with senior leadership within the company and with key customers.
- Lead projects and allocate resources to maximize market penetration, working closely with management and client executives.
- Drive strategic sales efforts to win new business and maintain existing accounts, focusing on building strong relationships with senior contacts at key accounts.
- Oversee global clients, often managing a portfolio of consumer goods, which may require coordinating international sales efforts or aligning multiple business units for business development.
- Manage strategic and business planning for the assigned territory, while working with other Directors to support EMEA and Global objectives.
- Oversee and develop direct reports, mentor broader talent, and lead teams regularly, both formally and informally.
Background We Need:
- Ideally 8+ years’ experience in FMCG – showing career progression.
- Someone who has had hands on experience with the retail mults. (Important)
- This could be either someone looking for a step up or someone currently operating at director level.
- Someone who has had experience working for a blue-chip company.
- Someone who has had success growing a business and leading a team.
