Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Care After Death Service at Swansea Bay University Health Board.We welcome applicants from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and are looking for highly motivated, flexible individuals to join our multi-faceted team as a Care After Death Support Officer.
Main duties of the job Provide immediate support to bereaved families, friends and carers following the death of a loved one.Work as part of a multi-agency team and provide support to clinical colleagues in discharging their duties in respect of death certification About us The role will work within a 7day roster with an extended day service available from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, working across the Health Board wide on all matters relating to death and bereavement.
Applicants will be working with the bereaved as part of a supportive service and providing expert knowledge in ensuring death certification of deceased patients across the Health Board is completed in a timely manner and in line with forthcoming requirements as set out by Medical Examiner Service within NHS Wales and providing immediate support to the bereaved.Ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Knowledge Essential Diploma/NVQ level 4 or equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience.
Desirable Knowledge of Patient Affairs systems and Certification of Death Experience Essential Experience of direct patient, family contact and the management of complex, emotionally challenging situations Experienced user of electronic healthcare information systems; both clinical and non-clinical Desirable Report writing and formatting Data formatting and presentation Minute taking Skills Essential Excellent verbal communications skills Ability to work under own initiative and sensitivity Ability to organise and prioritise own workload Ability to influence and challenge non-compliance Good verbal skills and able to articulate effectively with all grades of staff including senior medical staff Personal Essential Self-motivated and prepared to ownership Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner Desirable Flexible towards the needs of the service Enthusiasm Calm under pressure Pro-active approach to problem solving
