Senior Residential Care Worker
Location: Nuneaton, Warwickshire
Reports to: Responsible Individual, Registered Manager & Deputy Manager
Salary: £14.54 per hour (approx. £30,000 per year) + £65 per sleep-in shift (approximately 3 per month)
Job Type: Full-Time

PURPOSE OF THE POST:

As a Senior Residential Care Worker (SRCW), you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support to young people in a residential setting. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations during shifts, leading staff, and promoting a nurturing, safe, and therapeutic environment for both the young people in care and the staff team. The Senior Residential Care Worker will ensure effective care plans are in place, oversee safeguarding procedures, and model best practices for the team, providing guidance and support to other staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

We are seeking qualified individuals with one of the following qualifications:

Level 3 Residential Care
Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce
Level 4 Children’s, Young People’s, and Families Practitioner

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional Child Care Practice:

Provide nurturing, therapeutic care to young people in a safe, structured environment.
Lead shifts effectively, managing resources, staff, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Supervise staff and monitor performance to ensure effective teamwork and care standards.
Ensure the proper management of finances and expenditures according to company policies.
Monitor health and safety processes, including risk assessments, and ensure compliance.
Lead the induction and mentoring of new staff, helping them integrate into the team and understand their roles.
Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all children and young people in your care.
Provide engaging and developmentally appropriate activities for children to support their social and emotional development.
Work closely with other professionals (e.g., social workers, teachers) to meet the needs of the young people.
Support and contribute to the development and review of care plans.
Collaborate with therapeutic teams to ensure care plans align with therapeutic interventions.

Leadership and Teamwork:

Act as a role model, inspiring and leading staff to uphold the highest standards of care.
Provide informal and formal support to colleagues, encouraging development and addressing challenges.
Lead team meetings and contribute to therapeutic consultations.
Participate in supervisions and performance reviews, giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Report concerns regarding practice through proper channels and adhere to the company’s whistleblowing policy.

Administrative and Reporting Duties:

Oversee daily reporting and record-keeping, ensuring documentation is accurate and timely.
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed, and all concerns are reported and acted upon.
Lead and participate in incident management, ensuring that incidents are recorded and followed up appropriately.
Ensure handovers between shifts are conducted efficiently, with key information relayed clearly to all staff.
Manage risk assessments and ensure they are updated following incidents or changes in care needs.
Contribute to the planning and preparation of meetings, reviews, and multi-agency discussions.

Additional Responsibilities:

Oversee health plans, education plans, and contact plans to ensure they are followed correctly.
Ensure medication administration is accurate and documented.
Monitor attendance and ensure young people are supported in their education and extracurricular activities.
Ensure the environment is maintained to a high standard, completing necessary checks (e.g., health and safety, fire, and vehicle checks).
Supervise and mentor staff during inductions and throughout their employment.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:

Take responsibility for your own professional development, attending relevant training and development opportunities.
Participate in regular supervisions and reflect on your practice.
Stay up to date with industry developments and best practices in residential care and child development.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This role requires flexibility and the ability to manage unpredictable and varied tasks. The nature of the work may require you to take on additional duties as needed, especially in emergency situations or unforeseen circumstances. Appropriate training, including behavioral management and physical intervention, will be provided.
