The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is a leading provider of cancer care and haematology services in the UK. Our haematology service is a tertiary referral centre for the management of patients with haematological malignancies and bone marrow failure.
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic consultant to join our clinical haematology service. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing consultant-level support to the development of the clinical haematology service and implementing best practice in haematology.
Main Responsibilities- Provide consultant-level support to the development of the clinical haematology service
- Implement best practice in haematology
- Manage outpatients attending the Macmillan Cancer Care Unit for treatment
- Provide specialist input into the care of inpatients at Leighton Hospital
- Liaise with local General Practitioners for haematological advice
- Join the existing consultant's rota to manage this
The successful post holder will be a core member of the leukaemia/myeloma and lymphoma multi-disciplinary teams and will have the opportunity to develop a special interest to suit the interests of the successful applicant and the unmet needs of the MCHFT Clinical Haematology service.
Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have:
- FRCP / MRCP or equivalent AND FRCPath or equivalent
- Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
- Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
