The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic consultant to lead the clinical haematology service based at Leighton Hospital. As part of a collaborative venture between The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Mid-Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we are pleased to offer the opportunity for an experienced consultant to lead and support the development of clinical haematology services across the southern sector of the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer Network.

Main Responsibilities

The successful post holder will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and consultant-level support to the development of the clinical haematology service and implementing best practice in Haematology. The role will include three outpatient clinics per week, responsibility for outpatients attending the Macmillan Cancer Care Unit for treatment, and provision of specialist input into the care of inpatients at Leighton Hospital.

Person Specification

We are looking for a consultant with a strong background in clinical haematology, with experience in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates. The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of performance management and support a performance culture. They will be accountable for the performance of themselves and others, empower others to take responsibility, and be able to develop and recognize the performance of others.
