Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Mental Health Service Administrator. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working within Mental Health Act Administration and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The estimated salary for this position is £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This figure is based on industry standards and takes into account the location and requirements of the job.

This key position involves implementing and administering the Mental Health Act and associated legislation in all MHA offices within Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a high level of data and practice quality relating to the Mental Health Act (MHA), including monitoring, supporting and undertaking MHA-related work inputted to Carenotes by the MHA Team.

Main Duties:

  • Implement and administer the Mental Health Act and associated legislation in all MHA offices within Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Provide effective support to enable Associate Hospital Managers to carry out statutory duties under the Act.
  • Advise and guide staff on the application and implementation of the MHA, MCA, and associated legislation, preventing unlawful detention and treatment and protecting the Trust from possible litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training to MHA office staff on MHA Administrative processes.
  • Work alongside the MHA Trainer and MCA Officer to provide training to clinical staff.
  • Support the Information Analyst with audits on Mental Health Act administration.
  • Oversight and support of Mental Health Act administration Trust-wide, ensuring adherence to team procedures and Trust policies.
  • Arranging and/or providing cover and support to other MHA offices as required.
  • Supporting the Deputy MHA Manager with relevant work and projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A sound educational background with good analytical and communication skills.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act and associated legislation.
  • Significant experience of working within Mental Health Act Administration.
  • Effective communication skills with excellent oral communications and interpersonal skills.
