As the post holder, you will provide medical leadership to a highly specialist multi-disciplinary team that offers care in the community for those with moderate to severe mental health problems and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Job ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for providing medical leadership and working collaboratively with Clinical Psychologists, Community Nurses, Systemic Therapists, Art Therapists, and Psychotherapists to deliver high-quality patient care. This role also presents opportunities to pursue research, development, medical education, or special interests that align with your passions.
The West Sussex Consultant group has diverse special interests, including PTSD, Depression, Eating Disorders, Liaison Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, and Learning Disability, which may spark your interest and enable you to grow professionally.
Person SpecificationTo be successful in this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications:
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Basic Medical Training)
- Full General Medical Council (GMC) registration in the UK
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRC Psych) or equivalent
- Entry on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent (or close to achieving this)
In addition to these qualifications, you should have relevant experience in managing severely mentally ill individuals and a thorough knowledge of legislation related to Mental Health and the Children's Act. A good understanding of the organic aspects of psychiatry is also crucial.
