The company has a strong presence across the UK, with over 700 colleagues working across various sites, including Whitehaven, Manchester, and Sheffield. With a successful track record in delivering multimillion-pound projects and contractor services, The Shepley Group has established itself as a trusted partner in highly regulated industries.

The HR Manager will join an existing team that prioritizes exceptional people management, retention, development, and engagement. This role offers a unique opportunity for an HR professional to drive growth and development of the HR function within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Managing Director, the HR Manager will work closely with the leadership team to deliver the people agenda and enhance HR operations, policy, process, development, and management capability.
  • Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with senior teams, adding value and providing positive insights.
  • Providing strategic HR leadership aligned with business goals and objectives.
  • Managing compliance with UK legislation and company policy.
  • Overseeing all recruitment and talent management, including workforce and headcount planning, talent attraction, and onboarding.
  • Managing employee relations within a unionized environment.
  • Identifying and developing existing training and development programs, including early careers, apprenticeships, and leadership capability.
  • Driving award-winning development programs to retain and attract top talent.
  • Implementing performance management and review frameworks.
  • Developing policies and procedures in line with legislation.
  • Developing HR analytics for Group reporting and information.
  • Developing compensation and reward strategies.

Requirements:

  • Level 7 CIPD or HR degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience gained within unionized environments, ideally in engineering, manufacturing, nuclear, or similar sectors.
  • Strong understanding of operating in regulated environments.
  • HR team management and leadership capability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ER, recruitment, performance management, and training within unionized environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to positively influence and negotiate change and progress.
