Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a leading healthcare provider, seeks an accomplished Assistant Financial Accountant to spearhead the Banking, Treasury, and VAT Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cash book reconciliations, banking reconciliations, payments reconciliation, and reviewing sales ledger and purchase ledger VAT, ensuring adherence to corporate governance procedures and regulatory requirements.

This role offers a unique opportunity to join our Transformation Unit and make a tangible impact on the delivery of exceptional healthcare standards. You will draw upon your expertise in banking and cash management processes, financial procedures, finance systems, and NHS tax legislation to drive success.

Main Tasks:

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Technical Accounts section, fostering a culture of excellence and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure accurate and timely financial information, meeting regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
  • Contribute to the preparation of Monthly Accounts and Quarterly/Annual returns, playing a pivotal role in shaping the organization's financial performance.
  • Offer expert guidance and support to staff members on various financial matters, promoting effective management and financial control.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members on VAT accounting best practices.

The successful candidate will possess experience in a similar role within a large complex organization, with a solid foundation in accounting principles, finance systems, and software applications, such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Estimated Salary: £31,344 per annum
