Administrative Support Officer

We are seeking an Administrative Support Officer to join our team in the Firearms Licensing Department. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide administrative support and ensure a high level of customer service.
About the RoleIn this role, you will be part of a team responsible for various clerical tasks related to firearm, shotgun, and explosives certificates. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Opening, sorting, and distributing post
- Sending out standard letters
- Converting paper documents to digital (scanning)
- Processing application forms, associated documents, fee payments, GP correspondence, notifications of the transfer of firearms and shotguns, visitors permits, European Firearm Passes, change of address notices, cancellation or replacement of certificates
You will also use Force computer systems for managing customer records and electronic document storage.
Additionally, you will assist with telephone calls and emails from members of the public and police colleagues, providing general advice on the department's business or referring the enquiry to another team member.
Maintaining personal responsibility for complying with Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, the Force Purpose, Force Policies and Procedures, and Data Protection (GDPR) is essential.
Essential Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you should have:
- Educated to QCF Level 2 (3-5 GCSEs including Maths and English) or work experience deemed to have brought you to a comparable level
- Administration experience in any environment

Working ArrangementsThis is a permanent position, working 37 hours per week. We offer flexible working arrangements and welcome applications from those interested in part-time or full-time work.
Salary and BenefitsThe estimated salary for this role is around £25,000-£28,000 per annum, depending on location and experience. We offer a range of benefits, including access to training and development opportunities, a pension scheme, and employee assistance programs.
