About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join our team at Barchester Healthcare. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality culinary services to our residents and patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu development and implementation
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes cooked to the highest standards
  • Create a warm, efficient, and fun environment in the kitchen
  • Work within budget and manage stock control
  • Complete regular audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification
  • A good understanding of nutrition and the ability to create appetising and nutritious menus
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food and creating a warm and welcoming environment
  • Confidence engaging with residents to create menus and a good understanding of HACCP
