Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a specialist post-16 centre in Camden, London. The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support to a student with multi-sensory difficulties, using Makaton and assistive technology to access learning and development sessions.

The role requires a lively and energetic approach, with a committed attitude towards supporting students with complex needs. Experience in SEND and multi-sensory support is essential, as is proficiency in Makaton.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored, one-on-one support using Makaton, assistive technology, and learning resources.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt and deliver activities.
  • Assist the student with study skills, time management, and organisation.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and social skills both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and parents.

The successful candidate will receive five days of training provided by the Local Authority prior to starting the position.
