Mentor for Young People with Special Needs

We are seeking an experienced Behavioural Support Specialist to provide 1:1 and group support to young people with special educational, social, and emotional difficulties in an Alternative Provision School in West London. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child development and be able to work collaboratively with professionals to develop effective strategies for supporting learners.
About the Role
This long-term position involves providing tailored programmes of work to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities. You will establish strong relationships with students through open communication, identifying and addressing their individual needs and concerns. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a positive influence by modeling socially acceptable behaviour and teaching children essential life skills. By promoting holistic development, encompassing social, physical, and intellectual growth, you will optimise pupil progress and achievement by mitigating barriers to learning and enhancing participation.
Your Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other professionals. A background in education or a related field is desirable, along with relevant experience working with children with special needs. A strong knowledge of child development and behaviour management techniques is essential.
