Job Description
- This is a full-time position responsible for performing phlebotomy procedures, including venipunctures, finger sticks, and heel sticks, on patients of all ages.
- The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- This role requires a high school diploma and a minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent.
- All employees hired during or after 2012 must have Phlebotomy certification.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples from patients by performing venipunctures, finger sticks, and heel sticks using aseptic techniques and established procedures.
- Enter patient information into the correct hospital system, verifying demographics, updating insurance information, and administering ABNs as needed.
- Organize and distribute workload in phlebotomy, including routine, time-specific, or stat orders, to ensure timely results for providers.
- Order tests in the computer and contact physicians as needed regarding test requests.
- File/scan scripts and insurance information and prepare reports for delivery to doctor's offices.
- Prepare samples for courier pickup and/or deliver samples to the appropriate department to ensure specimen integrity.
- Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed to provide continuous service, minimizing downtime.
- Clean and maintain phlebotomy work areas, carts, etc. using established procedures.
- Assist with training new employees.
- Perform phlebotomy responsibilities at assigned locations determined by the manager to meet department needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 per year
Requirements
- A high school diploma and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent
- Phlebotomy certification (all employees hired during or after 2012)
